Festivals and Seasonal Events in Tuscany
There are many events all year round throughout Tuscany and Umbria, but many are concentrated during the summer and fall.
Many sagre, or festivals dedicated to a particular local product, begin in early summer and continue on through the fall as local specialties (wine, olive oil, truffles, marroni chestnuts just to name a few) come into season. Festivals are a great way of participating in local lore and mingling in with the local crowds since they are usually organized on a volunteer basis by the inhabitants of the towns and villages they are held in. Usually suitable for families since the atmosphere is free and informal.
